Rep. Ivey has authored HB 495 which provides for removal of the collaborative practice agreement and signature authority on documents for items nurse practitioners can diagnosis and treat.

HB 495 was heard May 5, 2021, on the House floor. The House of Representatives voted on this bill, and it passed with 60 "YEAs" and 41 "NAYs". The next step for this bill is to be heard in the Senate Health and Welfare Committee.

By executive order of the Governor, the CPA suspension has been in place for over a year. If HB 495 passes, it would provide for permanent suspension of the CPA. This would improve access to care for Louisiana by allowing APRNs to practice to the full extent of their education.
