ANA Corona Virus Response Fund - Helping Nurses on the Front Lines. Nurses are on the front lines of the COVID-19 response. We have created a Coronavirus Response Fund for Nurses to enable the public to support and thank nurses. The national fund will address the identified, emerging needs of nurses

ANA Enterprise Gears Up

for Global ‘Year of The Nurse’ in 2020

When polled on what they need, Registered Nurses reported that they need things such as shoe covers, personal sized hand sanitizers, food, extra scrubs, and hand lotion. We have started the Care Packages For COVID Caregivers – Relief Fund to support Registered Nurses who are giving their all to help patients on the frontlines.

The Louisiana Nurses Foundation is partnering with businesses to get the best prices and ship these items to Registered Nurses across Louisiana. 

2020 Legislative Session

The Louisiana Legislative session starts next week. LSNA and LANPAC met with our lobbyist to discuss the upcoming session. We are following 17 bills. This is a fluid number as bills may be added or removed.

 

The broad areas covered are: LSBN composition, APRN scope of practice, and nurse education passage required by the LSBN. Brief summary of impactful bills:

 

HB 320 - Adds 2 members to LSBN presented by the Louisiana Hospital Association.

 

SB 405 - Adds restrictions on APRNs to be subject to collaborative agreements' approval from LSBN, Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners, & Louisiana State Board of Dentistry.

 

HB 237 & HB 242 - Provides relative to the student passage rate required by LSBN.
